⭐️ Text REVIEW
to 50409 or wherever you use the bot!
Each user gets one vote and review per official in Congress and for the President, and your elected officials get a clear view of what they need to do (or not do) to earn your vote. If they do what you want, change your position! Votes and reviews are published online (town only) and delivered monthly.
Meant to be different than a stream of letters, this is a guide for officials to easily gauge constituent sentiment. If you’re truly a single-issue voter, this is where you explain that issue.
Make sure you're counted, and share to ensure your like-minded friends are too.
✅ Pro tip: If you use the VERIFY
keyword beforehand, your reviews will earn a verified voter mark and be elevated in our reports to officials, as you’ve proven that you’re a registered voter who can hold them accountable.
Folks who used the bot back in 2020 may remember our experiment with candidate vote drives and pledges. However, endorsements are limited to election season, and one of the problems with our democracy is that incumbents are sent back over and over again. By pivoting to a continuous referendum on incumbents, we hope to drive behavior change in officials already in office and seeking re-election, all the time! The more folks participate, the more impact this will have. We’ve built the technology but need you to share and organize to make it impactful.
State officials and Mayors are coming soon. Do you have any feedback or want to see any other new features? Leave a comment! Watch this space for another new feature next week. I appreciate your support of Resistbot!
Respectfully I think this is a bad idea. We don’t need yet another “internet comments” or 1-5 star review section where only the most negative bother to provide input. We need constructive discussion with context and real advocacy, not just Yelp reviews of our elected officials.
This could be a good idea as far as enabling more accountability from our elected officials, if there was participation from not only the extremes of very negative or very positive but also those in the middle who are generally silent on reviews. Since Resistbot seems to attract those who prefer to be informed and involved, perhaps the review/approval feature could be a useful indicator of how constituents feel about their legislators. Worth a try, time will tell. (yes, cliches)
I'm glad to see some activity on this Substack, after a long lull. This could become a forum for discussion. I'm in the Discord server and for now am enjoying the relative peace but Substack would be a great venue for discussion, easily accessible by the average older user. Most ppl I know over age 30 have never heard of Discord.
